One UFO done

UFO = Un-Finished Object

That is a VERY NICE feeling when you have another project successfully completed (even if "successfully" is in the eye of the beholder).

I was a Block Lotto winner of August 2012 blocks. It's quite exciting to get mail from all over the USA and other countries too. When I had received all I laid them out in different patterns ...

... but then I never got around to the actual sewing. Well, I thought it was time now. Since a lot of the blocks were not heirloom quality anyway I decided that investing to have the quilt professionally quilted was not necessary. Actually, I thought it was the perfect opportunity to try FMQ (free motion quilting) myself. You have to start learning sometime.

A friend had told me about strip quilting. Yes, that is what I did.
Yes, I got better attaching each strip.
Yes, I learned a lot. The quilting was quite fun after a while.
No, don't think I will do it like this again. The seams are just too obvious (especially on the back).
Yes, it will do as a cute little utility quilt. Size: 54 x 63 1/2 inches

Here it is finished!

The blue back is not as light as in the first picture but not as black as the two close-ups either. I used the cream thread on purpose. Since it was meant as a learning sampler I wanted it to show up.

Wow, you did a great job on the quilting! I think when washed, the seams will shrink up a little, and that was better toward the bottom, too. Good for you for being brave enough to go for it. I love the way it looks, front and back, and I think you have a winner, and are a winner for finishing this.
