William's visit part 5 - Mommy arrived

Wednesday - 7/25
This is the day. William is excited. His mommy is coming today.
But breakfast first. Omi promised mango cream.

William has to move from the guest bed onto the blow-up. He is helping Papa.

Has to try it out.

Still time for a 'Master Mind' game. He is good! Sometimes he likes to be code-maker and sometimes code-breaker.

On the way to the airport. When we were almost there Helen texted that she is stuck in Charlotte. Her plane is delayed. Williams sends her a kiss photo to comfort her.

2 and a half hours late ... but finally here!

Sarah had wanted to come and see her sister after work but that was not possible any longer. What a disappointment.

Thursday

Decided to walk a little along the James River. It was such a nice morning. We parked near Tredegar and walked to the new bridge (some of the following photos were taken by Helen).

The water level in the river was very low. Very interesting.
Do you see the heron at the bottom on the left? iPhone is pretty good for 'regular' photos but sometimes I wished ... I have not used my 'real' camera for a long time but I don't feel like carrying two.

We had to stop and look often. There were so many different turtles and other creatures to see.

Early lunch. We were hot and thirsty. The Legend was perfect. Everybody enjoyed it.

With new energy we even took the longer way back to the car.

William is not really a 'walker' but he did very well. We went back home and refreshed. For dinner we were invited by Sarah. Of course she worked all day so this is the only time the sisters can see. And of course Helen wants to see all her nephews. You can see on her selfies that she enjoyed it very much.

You can see on the video that the four cousins played very nicely together. I skipped the neighborhood walk to nurse my knee. It had had enough this day.

When the twins were finally in bed and we all had had dinner William voiced that his cousins wore him out. He is not used to playing like that. But of course he liked it.

What a great time. Our two daughters. Our four grandsons. What more could we want. Thank the Lord!

William's visit part 4 - Virginia Living Museum

Tuesday - Sarah's day off

William had spent the night at Auntie Sarah's in Caleb's room. She texted these photos to me the boys having breakfast in their PJs.

Sarah had made plans. James left our house at 7:15 am and went to join them. I did not go because I wanted to give my knee a rest Soon they were on their way to the Virginia Living Museum in Newport News. We didn't know much about it or even had heard about it but Sarah and James said it was a great success.

Oh yeah? Digging for dinosaur bones?

Besides "dead dinosaurs" there were a good number of live animals and everybody pretty much enjoyed everything from what I was told.

Ha, almost forgot to put    THIS VIDEO   (1:39)    into the blog.

Jellyfish!

Sarah had brought a picnic for lunch.

Both were asleep soon after this photo was taken.

Sarah decided to go home via the ferry. The older boys were so so excited to be with the car on a boat. And they also saw an osprey nest with osprey  babies very close to the ferry.

Finally back home at Sarah's. Not much napping done. We were invited for dinner and I came with the second car.

I helped Sarah put the twins in the bathtub. They were so exhausted that they didn't know what to do with themselves. Wade grilled some very nice burgers and we had an enjoyable dinner in the screened porch. Afterwards the older boys played very nicely together.

But then it was time for the three of us to go home ... in two cars. James had a very difficult time keeping William awake. I even called their car and discussed dessert to keep him awake.

At bedtime Helen has always done "Pillow talk" with William: what did you like best about today? Every evening it is "time with cousin Caleb".
