Happy Birthday, James! I am so happy that you came into the world and especially into mine. Many happy returns of the day.
Helen took William to his lesson in the morning and then they came over shortly before lunch. William had made a birthday card for Papa for which we had to find a really good place.
After lunch William had more work to do ... icing the cupcakes he had helped to make the day before. You can see it is serious business.
Time went fast until we had to leave for William's soccer practice at 2:45 which is at his school.
James took the first picture and I the rest. We didn't want to distract too much and sat most of the time in the car. It was only 30 minutes. We were very impressed with the coach. (William in the blue shirt with red sleeves)
I also took a VIDEO which might give a better impression of the dynamics.
On the way home we made a stop for Helen and at Sam's. There was a very dark gray cloud in the sky when we went into Sam's and while we were there we could hear a downpour drumming on the roof. It was noisy. But ... when we were done and wanting to leave the rain was done too. Talk about perfect timing.
Ben met us at home and we had tea-time. We all sang of course and William helped Papa with the candle.
Later we had soup and salad. A low-key celebration day but it was very nice.
Tuesday October 7
Can you believe this? No picture today!
William had school and Helen had to teach. James and I did a little bit of food shopping. Ha, I hadn't been to Aldi yet since we arrived this time.
Helen came after her work and Papa went to pick William up from school. At 3 pm this time or there would hardly be time to play. Helen and William left shortly before 6 pm because she had to go to a meeting at her church.
Wednesday October 8
Ben and Helen had arranged for us to have lunch with William's other grandmother and great grandmother in Lebanon. It is always nice to see "Mops" and "GeeGee". It is so obvious how much they love the young family too.
William wasn't very hungry. He was more interested in GeeGee's walker and how it works.
Time to leave. This is a very special place though. It used to be a military academy. GeeGee's husband went to boarding school here (sent by his family from Canada) and that's how she met him. The now restaurant used to be the schooL president's mansion. There are old photos hanging around and he is even in some of them.
After lunch we parted. Ben to work. Papa with William to a playground and then home (trying unsuccessfully for a nap). Helen and I off to get my hair cut.
Afterwards we are taking selfies since we both now have hair cuts. I took the first. William the next.
Wednesday evening is church time for Helen and William. A simple supper is always included.
Since this week is fall break for most schools attendance is low and now bible school class. A chance for me to take a closer look at this wallhanging.
James us getting ready. When Helen had mentioned a couple of weeks earlier that her parents were coming for a visit she was asked whether her father could do a "Camino talk". It was very good and people liked it very much. Too bad the choir had to leave early.
Afterwards Papa and I took William with us because he was spending the night with us. Helen had to teach next day but he had vacation.
He was good as gold and so sweet.
I little gift always helps. Of course we had to try the new soccer ball a little out in the living room.
Bedtime. After playtime in the bath is story time. Papa's job. He does such a good job and here is a VIDEO to proof it.
It only took for Omi to sing three songs and he was asleep. This is one of my favorite photos.
Thursday October 9
He slept til almost 8 and woke up with a smile. And we had another happy day.
... but I better stop with this blog now. It is getting too long. I am sorry that this took a while. I had terrible trouble with "the gadgets". Upgrading to IOS8 was not a good idea. Blogsy was not cooperating either. Googling the questions of the problems didn't net results either. Had to find a trick myself.
Love seeing visits with William! He is just a little sunshine boy!
ReplyDeleteAnd he (they all) coming weekend before Thanksgiving, yeah!
