Another promising day. The sun was shining and the sky was blue. Our view from our balcony when we woke up was surprising.
I took this photo from the back of deck 9 (breakfast).
Soon we walked off the ship. We had a map and went towards Rif Fort. Everywhere people were busy dismantling Christmas decorations.
The Rif Fort is a 19th-century defense monument which was built to protect the island from the invasion of pirates and enemies. Its key location was centered in the heart of Curaçao. It lies at the entrance of the Sint Anna Bay in the western Otrobanda neighborhood. Rif Fort is made of 1.5-meter thick coral walls that once stored over 56 cannons. Today, Rif Fort is a tourist attraction that features great local restaurants, live entertainment, trendy bars with Latin and Caribbean music and the rough waves that smash through the ends of the walls.
Midmorning and it was already quite hot. James wet his Tilley hat which is quite cooling.
David thought it was a good idea and did likewise. All 4 of us have Tilley hats. Bec, their daughter, had mentioned that the trip should be called: "4 Sillies go on an adventure in their Tillies!!"
Walking back towards Queen Emma Bridge, also known as the "Swinging Old Lady".
Walking over to the other side.
A little shopping. T-shirts for James and picture postcards for the grandkids, including stamps.
When I was walking deck 3, I could see the Queen Emma Bridge opening. It is quite something to see.
It was a lovely day. The show tonight didn't thrill us. Dinner was lovely. The piano guys were fun. Plenty of card playing too.
Special entertainment when the ship was leaving. We had gone in forward but the river wasn't wide enough to turn and the ship had to go out backwards. The Queen Emma Bridge was opening for us of course.
We were watching the pilot boat too.
And then we were out in the open again and it was time to call it a day. Night night.
Forgot to report yesterday's step count:
Tuesday 1/7 = 18,101
today = 15,573
I hope this counter reacts to the food which is so tempting.
