Day 7

James had a good sleep in the familiar guest room. The alarm clock rang at 6:30 am though. A quick breakfast. Weetabix. 

A quick walk in the garden. The conservatory where we had the dinner last night. My favorite place in their house.

The taxi was very punctual at 7:15 am. At the airport Kate and David tried to solve the problem of the return boarding passes. Not very successful. 

The plane was just a little bit late but all went well. Bournemouth International Airport is quite small and you board the plane the old fashioned way. Luckily the weather was not bad. 

Seating was not the best. We all sat in different places. I had a middle seat but could lean over to take at least one photo of the first glimpse of Ireland.

First we had to go to a Ryan Air counter to solve problems about our return flights. Kate and David had already so much stress with the airline. Then we went to get the rented car. That too was not that easy. Finally there it was. Something about eventual road tolls to need the license plate number. So I took this photo.

The rented house was in a little village called Donore close to Drogheda and took about half an hour and was actually quite easy. Kate has to be the designated driver the whole time because she is the youngest and I am not driving on "the wrong side of the road". Here we are finally at the gates of our place for a week.

We settled in and then went back the about 3 km (kilometers) to village center. There is the church, a (little) supermarket and a pub. We went into the supermarket to stock up the kitchen a bit. Well, too bad that we had not been able to take inventory in the kitchen first and there was so much left for us to use including some milk in the fridge for the tea or coffee and even a bottle of bubly. 

Kate managed to get the TV going with the BBC channel. We are ready for the jubilee celebrations in a few days. While I am typing this we are watching "The Repairshop" where it is all about repairing earlier jubilee items even from Queen Victoria's time.

And, of course, Kate and I are both (separately) doing our Wordle, not giving each other hints. Jane in Windsor too does hers. Today's was quite easy. Our friend Julie knows why.

For dinner we went back into the village to the pub. Wow, that place seems to be busy all day long. David thought that the same people were still there from when they went in to inquire earlier. The food was unfortunately not quite to expectations. We don't get pub food often.

But we did have a good time though. People are so friendly and so chatty all the time.

And then it was ready for our first night, night.
