Friday September 30
After a good night's sleep and a good breakfast (Thank you, Corry) our friend wanted to take us for another sight-seeing tour. It was really very interesting.
This is a lake in the next village. Its for swimming.
They have a key for the gate and put there chairs, table, floats, whatever they need into a locker.
Took a picture from the car when we drove away. Don't know why it got crooked. Pothole?
Corry stopped at the house of her son Sebastian's mother-in-law to say "hello". I had to ask whether I could take a photo of this chest of drawers. It is so unique. I bet my daughters would love it. I wanted them to see it.
Back home again Corry and I walked to a small supermarket in the village. It was a nice walk. I think village life must be very nice.
We bought 'Zwetschgen' (damson plums). Her bachelor son Florian, who has a domain in the finished basement, loves to bake. A Zwetschgenkuchen is in the future.
Corry and Werner's house. Very very nice!
Both sons are very artistic. Especially Florian loves to paint. Every room, wall, corner is so interesting to look at.
Werner's collection of US license plates. He and two other friends flew to Chicago with their bikes (I think 2006 or 7) and biked from their the whole Route 66 to Los Angeles. Route 66 in covering a total of 2,448 miles (3,940 km).
Zwiebelkuchen (onion cake) and Rhabarber Nektar (rhubarb nectar) for lunch. So good.
The three of us decided that we needed a walk. Turn left from the house and keep walking.
This is the way to the Friedinger Schlössle. You can see the tower on the hill.
We had to cross the yard of a farm though.
On the way Corry told us that soon there was a bench were the view was just outstanding. Ha-ha, which view? We had a good laugh about that.
Well, here was a good view. The Hohentwiel, the mountain were we go tomorrow for James' celebration.
The door was open so we could have a look after that walk.
It is a restaurant but only on certain days.
The view in the other direction. This is the Bodensee, the Lake of Konstanz.
And then it was time to go again to the train station and pick up my sister Ute. She came all the way from Recklinghausen without having to change trains. Oh how good to see her.
Corry made another most delicious dinner.
Ha-ha, then Ute said that she wanted to learn "our card game" too. And out came the cards.
Oh yes, that game is infectious. And do you see that bag?
Yes, the pistachios from Italy!
So much to tell. So much to laugh. Good times!
