Something about May

Weather is "up and down" recently. Some days hot, some days cold. We even had to turn on the heating for a little bit. We had all-day-rain and we even had a thunderstorm that was so close to Sarah that she lost her inground electric fence (for the dogs) for a couple of days.

But no boredom here. May 17 Papa and I were invited to the twins' end-of-the-year music show. Each child could have 2 adults attend. If both parents of a child can attend then that is it. But with twins there can be 2 more. Yeah, lucky for us. It was really nice.

I made a VIDEO     (4:34 min.)

Next day I had an appointment at 7:30 am and had to slow down getting out of our community. Really? I could not believe my eyes. A hotair balloon in the middle of the street.

This is not my photo. I found it on the Crossridge FaceBook site. The event was the talk of the neighbors.

Saturday May 20
The twins had a softball game while in walking distance at the same time Caleb had a soccer game. We had been able to watch Caleb a few times but not the twins.
Of course I made a VIDEO     (1:15 min.)

And sometimes I have crazy ideas. Sunday afternoon I started tinkering on making a stand for the bird feeder in the front. We enjoy seeing the birds when we have breakfast at the kitchen table. But having it outside the patio between the plants is not a good idea because too many of the seeds are germinating and making it unsitely.
My idea/invention to have it inside the patio. I found an old flower pot not needed any longer and cemented the birdfeeder stand into it. Of course I covered the bottom first in aluminum foil so it actually can be pulled out.
We put it into a larger planter, added soil and actually added a little hosta.

The planter is actually a little bit too small and we tied the stand to the railing just to be on the safe side. I am happy about the result of our effort. The birds are happy too.

Tuesday May 23 was Caleb's music show at the school. Rules were the same as with the twin: 2 guests per student. Grandparents had the benefit of the videos the parents took. I consolidated them to watch it in one go. VIDEO       (4:28 min.)   I admire anybody who can play an instrument and make music.

The rabbit has done more damage with some of our flowers and it is bitter sweet to see this one just having one bud opening this year when it is usually covered in abundance with them.

"Joseph's Coat" keeps amazing us. The colors changing on each blossom every day.

Sunday May 28 we picked the boys up at about 9 am to take them to church with us. They love to come. And quite often they are asked whether they want to ring the large bell before the service. And yes, of course, they love to do that.

It is Pentecost, the birthday of all churches. They didn't know that we had a birthday cake for the coffee hour. Ha-ha, of course they were surprised and liked it.

Later, when we arrived at our house, we saw a turtle starting to cross the street probably to go into the woods behind our place. The boys of course wanted to help it and they were very nice about it, mainly watching.

On neighbor Paul's walkway the turtle found an earthworm and devoured it in no time.

Guess what the boys wanted to do later?

And more birdwatching. This one we call "leg-up" because of the way he/she always stands on one and holding on with the other.

This is "top bird" because he/she just goes right inside, out of the rain, and comfortably enjoyes the food.

And when we go out for out walk the next day we see the turtle again, this time going the other way in our flower beds.

Wow, something the rabbit has missed.

And that is it for now. Always something going on. Always something to enjoy.
