Back to “normal” (?)

Our visitors are gone. We are trying to pick up on the jobs we should have done. But the weather is so lovely. We have a wonderful "Indian Summer". We try very hard to get walks in at least in our neighborhood. That is not easy between things we should get accomplished and things like backaches.

But here are some things about nature around us we are very much enjoying ... like some of our camellias which have just started to bloom.

A praying mantis which should up sitting on the chair outside next to the front door.

The heron we are seeing a few times a year at our retention pond.

And this caterpillar which showed up on October 21 when we were having lunch on our back porch. It looked quite menacing with the very long thorns sticking up from the body. I took this identification photo and was told to look up "American Dagger Moth". Yes, good name with those "daggers".

Isn't this pretty?

On October 12 a few ladies (6) from our church went to Stafford for a diocesan meeting of the ECW (church ladies). It was my first time to attend one like it and it was very interesting. This church building was completed in 1757 so is very historic in the USA.

The next day we had our first opera event of the season "Don Giovanni". The music was wonderful but I am not sure about the modern touch otherwise.

It's October so Halloween seems everywhere. This actually was staged in our favorite ALDI.

Yes, all those 5-minute jobs we try to check off. We got our flu and covid shots. Check mark!

Saturday 10-26 our church held the annual Fall Festival with petting zoo and lots of other fun things. Our grand-twins other grandparents brought them and they had a lot of fun .... and we loved seeing that.

Sunday afternoon we were invited to a birthday party. Martha turned 70th. This is our "birthday card" ... made with 70 lollipops. The children had organized the event and it was a lot of fun.

And at the end of the month the church newsletter needs to be assembled and mailed. Several months ago I found a young lady member who was interested on working on it. She is great, luckily has the same computer as I and knows the software/programs I am using. Our teamwork has been a joy for me. When we traveled she did most of it and this time I did most. But we were able to meet and mail it out together so Ashley could learn how that is done, passwords and all.

Here is the LINK to the CLOAK if you are interested.

And that is it for now.
