Omi Camp part 8

Sunday July 3

Not much to report for this day. We just had to settle in again and "recover" from our little trip.

Monday July 4 -  Independence Day. Another nice day of relaxation. After lunch we played "our" game again on the back porch. William is a really good player. Of course everybody likes to win but we all have fun just playing the game. William is a really good sport and we are so proud of him for it.

Later in the afternoon I finally started to tackle "Pussy", Colin's comfort toy (a lovey?)which he has had since he was a baby. It suffered a major rip while restling with his twin. I was worried that it might be beyond fixing. I just did not manage to even start on it before our trip together but I was often thinking of the "how to".

Somewhat put together but not very strong and not pretty. I am not happy, took pictures and sent them to Sarah. If she has a break at work she might be able to answer.

Colin was asked whether Pussy should get a new tummy?  His answer was "yes".

Tuesday July 5

We had to go food shopping and William saw this. He was sure he needed to try it and take it back to his Dad.
(Bummer ... I am writing this after he is gone home and I see it is still in the fridge. Sorry, Ben.)

Time to continue working on Pussy. To really do a good stable job I have to sew through several layers. At 1:30 pm I am finally done.

More photos and questions to Colin via Sarah: Does Pussy need new socks?

The answer was 'yes' again with his comment that Pussy needed 'new arms' ... which was a trip to Target while Papa went once again with William to the Science Museum.  The socks also had to be sewn on.

Since he already had to sleep several days without it, William and I hopped into the car and brought it to their house while they all where at a swim meet.

A VIDEO arrived later from Sarah. So cute.

Wednesday July 6

It was a hot day but not too bad. We had decided to visit Henricus Historical Park. It's a bit of a drive but not as far as Jamestown and Williamsburg. There is just so much history in this area.

Jamestown was the first capital city of Virginia. The first settlers had arrived in Northern America in 1607 but Jamestown was swampy and dangerous. Henricus was started in 1611 as an alternative. But it ended up not being less dangerous. Pocahontas was brought up close to here. So much history.

I didn't take that many photos. I was too engaged into listening and looking around. You can see a bit more in THIS BLOG!

Of course we had to walk down to the river.

But it ended up being a really hot day and we injoyed playing "our card game" at home. Poor Papa has a streak of bad luck. William is quite aware of it and it happy when Papa can go out first finally.

Thursday July 7

William also is always happy to go for walks and quite often initiates it. But you have to choose the timing wisely with the temperature being so high. You also always should check the radar. Typical Virginia summer. This walk was taken at 10 am.

This week Caleb had his "River Camp" in the morning. We hd arranged though to pick him up from there at 1 pm. We went straight to the Science Museum and had a great time. William wanted Caleb to see the "Shark Movie" even though he had just seen it the day before.

And there was so much to see before and after.

The cousins had a great time together.
