Friday July 8
The three weeks of Omi Camp are coming to an end. Helen is on her way to pick her son up. She got up VERY early. I noticed when she sent this photo from where we have sometimes made the hand-over. Bristol is about half-way. It usually looks nicer there.
Leaving early means you arrive early. Helen is sitting next to these two but she doesn't like that photo. She was very tired from driving the 600+ miles by herself. But it's a nice photo of these two men.
Helen had a little wish list. It is always nice if the "hostess" knows exactly what makes "guest" happy. I put those two words into markers because of course a mother always likes to do a bit of spoiling if possible.
So for dinner after her arrival I had a tomato pie ready. It looked prettier when it was whole fresh out of the oven. But it was good if I may say so myself.
Saturday morning Helen had to teach her virtual classes (yeah for internet).
In the afternoon we were all invited to Sarah and Wade. Helen had not seen her sister and her nephews in quite a while.
I wanted to learn to Qwirkle. The children were not interested. Too late in the day when they are tired. But I found it quite interesting/fun.
Sarah and Wade cooked dinner for us = a hibachi meal. Few weeks ago Wade had bought a "new to him cooking station" as reported in Omi camp part 3. We enjoyed it so much then that I dared to ask Sarah for it again. Thank you, thank you. It was awesome again.
When it was time to leave, it was also time for Caleb to say good-bye to his family. We were taking him with us to spend the night. Next day Helen and William were leaving to go back home and they were taking Caleb with them to drop off at his other grandparents who live close to the highway after about 3 and 1/2 hours.
Lots of bye-byes.
Not sure why Colin is sad. His mommy is not leaving.
Sunday July 10 the alarm clock rang at 5:20 am. Helen had been determent to drive the whole way in one day looking at her schedule for the coming week. And yes, all went well. They pulled out at 6:09 am.
Having Caleb with them for the first 3+ hours to entertain them a little might have made the long drive a little less boring. I think William must have taking this photo.
And that is the end of Omi Camp 2022. Sigh. As long as our grandsons want to spend time with us we will hold our open arms out. We feel very blessed.
