Wow, my last blog was from May 27. We are busy and having fun with mostly ordinary things. I had just written a whole paragraph with (for you) boring details ... and then decided to delete that.
I had ended the last blog with the scary state of our hydrangeas. Well, I can report that thoroughly rinsing them must have done the trick. We have been able to enjoy them now for several weeks. (Pictures taken on different days)
Strangely enough the pink one has decided to be multi-colored now. I know that acidic soil changes some so they grow blue flowers and alkaline soil changes them to pink. But we certainly didn't do anything.
Saturday June 8 the church ladies came to our house for the monthly meeting which included enjoying breakfast together. That was a lot of fun.
We also helped out a lot with our 3 local grandsons. When the hired person was not available we were definately ok to take over. One thing we did was to visit the VMFA which has a special exhibition right now: "Samurai". All the different armor pieces were very explicitly done and so different from each other. The boys really were interested.
Wade and Sarah were working hard for several weeks to get their treehouse back into shape so it was safe to be used again. A large tree had fallen on it during a heavy storm and really damaged it badly. Well, this is the improved version. It now has also a roof. Perfect for a summer sleepover.
For a while we had really lovely weather. We sat outside as much as possible. And one day we did something which we had not done in a long time. James grilled hamburgers for us. They had been in the freezer and needed to be eaten. We enjoyed them a lot. Definately going to use the grill more often again now.
When James pulled the grill forward and uncovered it, there was Freddie (the frog). I wished I knew how many generations of Freddie we had over the years. They all look the same. When it is cooler we see him/her in the box where we keep the patio cushions. In spring we hear him/her call (or serenade). We enjoy our "wild life".
We also watch our birds. When we got the different bird feeders they were a huge success right from the beginning. Lately we have also blue birds visiting. But of course all the different birds are special.
And well, yes, we still enjoy "our" card game. Five Crowns is still it, once a day when we can. But lately I am not so lucky. To be exact: James is extremely lucky. Look at this! He had no bad point. Zero. And I had 130. Winning or loosing never changes our enjoyment.
Of course lately we also were busy getting ready for our family trip. This trip was organzied by ourselves. We are having vacations together with our two daughters and their families to Germany.
And now we are sitting at the airport and waiting to board our transatlantic flight. James and I are the first to fly over. We are so excited. Everybody else will come a bit later. Seems like the children are very excited too.
Of course you most likely will be able to read my blogs about this adventure! And I hope to be able to read some comments!
