France Day 8 - Black Truffles Farm

Tuesday September 17

The Mistral has died down. The itinerary had been adjusted yesterday  and we were supposed to be ready at 9 am for a bus ride and visit to a black truffle farm.

Black truffles are very rare and there are only a few farms. Again this is a family business and if I recall right in the hands of the 3rd or 4th generation.

The father and present owner explains most of it to us but his wife, son and daughter are also there and taking care of us.

Here we are getting some wine to taste.

We see a homemade video about this farm and how it works. Obvious it was made a few years ago because the children are much younger. It was not also interesting but cute.

We get a taste of the truffle chopped in mild fresh cheese ... similar to a dip. Very tasty.

And, of course, you could bye little sealed jars with truffle in it. The photo shows a whole truffle under the glass dome.

And then it was time to leave again.

Love my GPS to see where we are and take screenshots.

Back on the ship.

Lunch. Everything is always plated so nicely.

And yes, with that mistral (wind) gone we can sail again. And here is another lock too.

And for a while we are on the sundeck and watch the world go by.

Ha-ha, and here are some people playing that pétanque game.

Dinner at 7 pm. Could one really refuse dessert?

Entertainment tonight: Karaoke! It was quite fun.

Thumbs up for those who had to come up with the changes. We don't know what we missed because we couldn't sail as scheduled but we know what we would have missed if we had sailed. It was another nice and interesting day. What else would we want?

Got to get a good night's sleep.
