Mainly Birthdays!

2/3 of our visitors from Germany are gone to see NYC. On Wednesday 9/3 I brought Maren and Gregor to the Richmond Airport. The photos they post for us are stunning (yeah, internet!). No wonder because my niece is a professional photographer and one of the best.

But we have fun too. When I was back from the airport we decide to go out for lunch. Our choice is "Pho Saigon". James and I like pho. Ute chose a salad which might be my choice next time too.

Back home again Ute and I find it neccessary to go shopping. Is the ALDI in Germany this much fun?

Next day, Thursday. Such a lovely weather. Sitting on the back porch playing cards is just the thing. You know that James and I like the 5-crowns-cardgame and play one game every day if possible. We found out that Ute likes it even more. She finds 2 or 3 games a day even better.

And having the hummingbird feeder in our view adds to the fun too.

It took a while to "catch" one of the little guys. Here is a little VIDEO!

This photo was taken next day, Friday. I am not sure why except that we three enjoyed every day. Ute didn't want to go site seeing or so. All she/we liked to have is some family time together.

Saturday September 6 was a very "lively" day though. The main event would be the birthday celebration for our twins Colin and Owen.

Sarah texted and asked whether I mind getting some number "9" balloons, of course blown up. It was no problem finding those at the "Dollar Tree" and some more. The only problem was to get those balloons into the car, ha-ha.

The party started at 11am at "Graybo's Sports Cards" and was a lot of entertainment for the boys. And for adults too. I must admit though that I didn't understand half of what was going on.

The birthday boys had wished for a giant birthday donut and their mother had listened.

And yes, this is our idea of fun.

Sunday September 7
This is Ute's birthday. All she wanted was time for the family to be together.
Of course since it was Sunday we first went in the morning to church. I don't know how our organist knew (ha-ha) but the first hymn he had chosen was one she knew because she sang the first three verses in German. At coffee hour our friend Nancye encouraged everybody to sing "happy birthday" for her. What's not to like?

For a late lunch we met Sarah, Wade and the boys at "Plaza Azteca". This one was close to the young family. Who does not like Mexican food?
After we were done with the main meal the boys alerted the server about Ute's birthday. It was great fun.
And yes, there is a VIDEO!

Ute shared that huge portion of "fried ice cream".

Afterwards we went for a little while to the other's house. The dogs Stella and Cooper wanted to be petted by her too.

And Sarah had prepared a birthday cake for her aunt also. I wasn't fast enough for a video.

Wow, a Sunday full of events. But of course we still had time to play a game. Happy Birthday, Ute!!!

William called too. He knows Ute from our trip last year to Germany. We had a long FaceTime.
Ahhh, life is good!
