At least we are having a good time.
* * * Oh my gosh. I pulled the photos into this blog 17 days ago ... and then came to a screeching halt. So much has happened since then again. Will I catch up?
This photo of one of our camellias is from the beginning of the month. I need to take a photo of how it looks now. Even more beautiful. Actually quite stunning.
Being president of the church' ECW (women's group) is quite time consuming but also rewarding. I am trying hard to make the meetings worthwhile to attend.

This photo is a reminder of something funny. This small tree is a kousa dogwood. We don't really like it. The landscaping company planted it crooked and its shape got even worse with time. The flowers are not very exciting but this fall it was loaded with interesting little fruits. The squirrels sometimes come to enjoy them.
When our friends Martha and Jerry saw them, they were wondering whether they are edible. Yes, they are. Martha found a recipe to make jelly. The recipe asked for 4 cups of berries.
I "harvested" the 4 cups for her (with James' help) and brought them over to her. I have not heard that it was a success. Not forseeing a harvest next year.
Oh yes, I forgot to mention that the Toyota got fixed to satisfaction. The body shop did a great job.
Another "church ladies event". On a cold and rainy day another church had invited to a Tea Party (Fundraiser) and 5 of us went. It was delightful.
And then there is always the Virginia State Fair in the beginning of October. On the Wednesday of that week my lacemaking group volunteers to demonstrate our craft. Most of them live in the Williamsburg area and I had not seen them in a while. It was a lot of fun.
Of course we take turns to take a break and have a look around. I love to see all the quilts of course.
And when the boys had time off from school (can't remember why) we had the pleasure of spending time with them. They love going out for breakfast. It's fun how they study the menu and make their choices.
This is a random photo of one of our dinners. Our main meal us usually at lunch and we just have some crackers with cheese or so and joghurt in the evening (yes, watching TV). The red round slices on the plates are actually from a hard-boiled egg which I had peeled and put into the liquid of the otherwise empty pickled beets jar. I felt like trying this out. And I really liked the result. Tasty!
Sunday church. Our friends sang "happy birthday" to James. It was fun.
His birthday was actually on Monday. Our friends Martha and Jerry came over and we played cards. Ha-ha, look at the scores. It looks suspicious ... James against the rest of us? Unbelievable but it is real and we had so much fun.
Later we were invited to cake time by the children. They always help to decorate.
But they also had to show us the halloween costume which just had arrived from amazon. They were so excited. That's what they wanted.
Yes, "happy happy b.." and "hip hip hip hurray" ....
James' special day is also my special day because I arrived in the USA that day 50 years ago. Yeah, this year we are celebrating a lot of events which happened exactly 50 years ago.
For Wednesday October 8 I had invited the core church ladies to lunch to discuss the items on the very long agenda I had emailed to them. It was a very successful meeting. My thanks go out to them.
I had cut three of my special roses but Barbara brought a couple of flowers from her gardenia. So pretty.
