William's visit part 2

Friday

You can imagine it. Unpacking. Trying to put things away. And how many cycles does the washing machine have to do. A brief look into the garden. The hardy hibiscus is going strong. The flowers are the size of a small plate. But the lack of rain has done a number on everything. It is screaming for attention. Sorry!

James and William (reluctantly) went shopping for food. After lunch they also went to the pool. William is getting more confident. William found the train basket. And once in a while he asks to be on his iPad.

It was a wonderful evening without humidity and a nice warm breeze. We had to talk him into walking to the Italian restaurant just outside our community. He would have preferred the car. But I think in the end he enjoyed it.
He certainly liked the spaghetti with meatball und gobbled most of it up. We had a little excitement when a man at the next table fell. He was alright though.

Saturday

Sarah has to work this weekend. We are happy to help Wade out a little. Caleb has a T-ball game at 10:15 am and its not something to take the twins to. The weather forecast was already very questionable the day before . Wade sent a text that it still seems to be on so we get on our way. We were there at 9:30 am and the boys immediately were into playing but soon after Wade left with Caleb and James went along. William wanted to stay with me and the twins.

William was really cute with his young cousins. He even read them a book (when Colin let him).

But the rain came and T-ball was cancelled. They stopped at Target for some diapers and came home. We helped give the twins lunch and put them into their beds for their naps. William and Caleb played a little more together and when it was Caleb's nap time we went home.

In the afternoon we play Master Mind, a game we found in a cupboard. We used to play it a long time ago. I had to read up on the rules. He took to it like a duck to water.

We also did something on the computer. But we can't talk about it, ha-ha, surprise.

Oh yes, found other games too.

And the mailman brought my Cotton Robin. You can read about that HERE!

Sunday

William likes to stay up in the evenings and sleep in the mornings. We had to be really noisy when it was time. James went to pick up Caleb from home. Sarah had to work again.
William got ready and had breakfast. Then they had about 15 minutes to play.

It was not a regular service because it was led by laypeople. But the boys still were very good. Of course they enjoyed the coffee-hour best. There were cookies, ha-ha.
Back home we had lunch. The boys helped to make "spiders", but then they preferred to eat raw veggies dipped in ranch dressing. Go figure.

After lunch James brought Caleb back home in the hopes he would take a nap.

In the evening we met for an early supper at 5:30 pm at Kanpai, a Hibachi restaurant at Short Pump. James took this first photo. I was a bit wondering how it would go with all 4 boys but it was most enjoyable. They were fascinated with everything and even ate a lot of the food.

Soups and salads, veggies and fried rice were included. After that you asked for beef or chicken, salmon, shrimps or scallops.

Children surprise you all the time. William liked his soup and salad and ate a lot of the rice. Had asked for chicken and ate it all and even tried shrimp. Since he doesn't like cooked veggies he didn't have to have it since he ate the salad.

Oh yes. Here are some videos.

It was fun watching the children when the cook did his thing.

The birthday treat (courtesy of the house, see video) was a quarter pineapple with some orange pieces too. The children enjoyed it very much.

Ha-ha, we tried to take a photo of the cousins on the bench in front of the restaurant. No chance really. A lively bunch tonight.

At home, more Master Mind etc etc. William went to bed willingly but just couldn't fall sleep. Too excited. Just like his mother was. But he is sweet and cuddly. And can't help it.
