Two..long..years

Yup, If you click on the 'Travel Reports' tap on the top you can see that our last trip was in January 2020. One day James and I decided it was time.

Of course we did not make that decision likely. Covid is still in the news. But after careful search and considering we booked.

We are goingon a cruise with Oceania. It is not the first time. We did leave Singapore on our way to retirement. Look at it HERE! It had been a great experience. We are sure it will be again.

Having made that decision we hassle to get ready. Oh yes, paper work. And all those ongoing day things. First thing I thought "oh no, we will be gone over the end of the month ... the Cloak". That is our church newsletter (of which I am the editor).

The Lord is helping. Sunday morning, after parking and walking towards the church, two hawks showed off all their beauty. There was my front page photo.

Sunday afternoon we had our appointments to have the mandatory covid tests done. Fingers crossed!

After that: washing, packing, James taking care of his birds in the back yard.

Finally! Monday morning. February 21. On the road. We left at 8:32 am to drive to Miami. After about 2 hours: breakfast stop.

I-95 pretty much all the way. Good weather. And the temp got warmer and warmer. Yeah!
James decided we should stop for the night in Savannah, Georgia. He found a hotel in a good location. After settling in we walked around in the historic part of town.
We had missed lunch (not hungry) so had a good appetize now. It took some walking to find the right place: Café at City Market
James had a beer: Wicked Weed Pernicious I India Pale Ale I
I had: Service Rally Point Pilsner

Food: Shrimp, Grits & Greens. A local tradition. Grilled shrimp simmered in homemade creole sauce, served over southern grits & collard greens

Food: Seaport Grouper (blackened grouper, pickled peppers, bloody mary sauce on grits ... if I remember right)

After all that sitting in the car all day we did get our steps walking in the historic district and felt good. It's not cold!

Back at the hotel. I finished the Cloak newsletter for next months and mailed it to the proofers. We both just got our test results back: negative! That we didn't doubt but .... still ... it did take time.  Feeling great!!!
