Omi Camp part 5

We arrived in Massanutten yesterday. Sarah is right. A nice place. But ... writing this blog will be difficult. We did so much (and took so many photos), how to report on all of that? Disclaimer: I have several nice videos but they will take a while to sort out. I will insert them later and let you know when I did in another blog.

Thursday 6/30

I think everybody had a good night's sleep. But the first children were already awake before 7 am. Sarah had made overnight-oats (a Raddish recipe) the night before. A favorite. I tried it too. Nice!

We just "chilled" until everybody was "awake".

Sarah, Caleb and I decided to go for a little walk up the street. It was uphill and in a loop hoping there was a view but not so. And we never actually went to the highest point of the street. The map on my phone unfortunately does not show elevations.

Colin found a tree with seeds looking like pea-pots.

Back to the house.

Colin found William in the hammock there. This time nobody fell out.

It was only shortly after 9 am and not time to go to the water park yet. Sarah had bought the tickets online before we came. They open at 10:30 am. So we decided to investigate the immediate area a little. Up, up, up went the street until we came to an overlook parking area. The outlook was so beautiful.

On the way down a deer with 2 babies went across the street. Could not get a good photo but it was really cute so close. And later we so more here and there.

Sarah stopped and parked the car. The boys are always intrigued by a waters edge.

Caleb immediately spied the many very large tadpoles.

And then across the street they spied a groundhog.

Finally it was time to go to the water park. A quick stop at the house to get the swim ware and towels.

The 5 admission and 2 observer tickets were prepaid and quickly we were in. The place is so impressive. Papa and I (the observers) are happy that a lot is indoors. No sunscreen necessary and no mosquitos.
We found a couple of chairs to put our towels and started the adventure.

The first thing the 5 did was take tubes and went on the adventure river. It floats around and a meandering circle. It looked like a lot of fun.
I know I have too many photos of this ride but it was the only one relatively easy to photograph. I could not decide which one not to add.

But there was so much more to do. Incredible slides and everything was so different. All 4, ha-ha 5 with my daughter, had so much fun. The photo, none of them, does it justice.

Papa and I had fun waiting for them and hearing all about it.

Oh yes, the surfing. Caleb, Colin and Owen tried that. Omi just could not believe how fearless the boys were. The videos from this I really have to work with seriously before I can post those. I will let you know in a later blog if and when I have done that. Caleb is the oldest and it is not a surprise that he did best. Papa and I missed it. But we heard that other people even applauded.

And then there was more outside. And more videos, ha-ha. Eventually!

There were so many more things to do for the 5. Different rides and even a wave pool.

The boys were told to be on the buddy system. William and Colin were together. Especially important since this ride you were in a double tube thing. You went through the tube and at the end went up again and down at the end of that rainbow thing. It looked very interesting. Slepping the tube thing to where you found it is a bit tidious.

There come Caleb and Owen.

Poor Sarah. As it was a ride for two she never got to do it. When she took a green tube for a single person ride the four boys wanted to do it of course too. And there they go! Except now Sarah had a double one for her and William.

It was time for lunch. It was not allowed to take food into the water park but of course you could buy something. We found enough to tie us over until dinner and everybody was happy.

Not getting cooled off by water the air had gotten thick, stuffy and humid for Papa and me inside so we enjoyed sitting in the shade outside and see the world go by. The others did a few more rides/slides inside and they also begged Sarah that they wanted to visit the arcades upstairs. As some had used up their tickets pretty fast there were tears. A true sign that they were overly stimulated and extremly tired.

It was closing in less than an hour. Time to go. And that is what we did. I took a quick photo on the way to the parked car. Not so impressive from the outside?

As I said before, none of the photos do it justice. James said that the slides really don't look as high as they are. Sarah (who also had been up there) mentioned that the boys had said what nice views they had from the top of the towers, especially the rainbow one.

The rented house is not very far. Sarah cooked the Raddish Kids version of Shepherds' Pie. I agree with with her that it is very good even if it is different than the family is used too.

The boys wanted to go into the hot tub again. Papa stayed with them while we were prepping the dinner.

After dinner we tried to play a game of Qwirkle which Sarah had brought. It looked very interesting but it was not a success. The boys were just too tired. What a stimulating day it had been. It had to be a very early bedtime, especially for the twins.

Night night!!!
