Trip Belgium and Holland in Springtime Day 10

Thank you to knows who leave comments. I know what my favorite moments are in a day but it is interesting to learn what you found special. If you comment "anonymously" (because of the way it is offered) please give me a hint who you are. And have a great day!

Wednesday April 15

Breakfast photo: This morning the "Brötchen" were "Bröt-chen-chen" (adding ..chen is like saying little bread)

At about 9 am we all in little groups were picked up by nice local people for a little visit in their homes. Grand Circle / OAT calles this the "Home Hosted Visits". It is a way to get to know the country you are visiting and its citizens better. The company always says that we should not be tourists but travelers.

Yolanda is leading us to her house and explaining/pointing things out on the way.

This is her dog she calls Lex.

Her house is terrific and even has a little garden place outside.

She even has a roof terrace but we did not go up there.

We were seven guests and Susan took this photo for me.

I tried to take a selfie so everybody is in this photo, except the dog.

We enjoyed the visit with Yolanda very much. This is a surprise she said she prepared. We call it Eierliquor in Germany.

We talked about all kinds of things and weekly flowers were also part of it. This bouquet was lovely. Too bad my photo. didn't turn out that good.

But these were part of it.

She brought us back to the ship and on the way she showed us more things. The gentleman in this house opened his door. She knew him and they chatted. I like the outside faucet.

At 11:30 am everybody was supposed to be on board because the ship was sailing to Lelystad and will be there until the trip ends.

We were all on the very top (sundeck) of our ship because we were receiving Bridge Commentary on Naviduct "Krabbersgat". It is something very special built.

Yes, the road goes underneath the lock. Awsome.

Way, way in the distance we saw this sculpture. Kate said it was called "Crouching Man" or "Exposure Sculpture" by Antony Gormley. Google search also said that it is sometimes called "Shitting Man".

With Kate's information I found this photo which makes the sculpture so much better to understand.

Well, it was a nice day up on the top deck. Then there was lunch and then the Galley Tour Visit with Executive Chef Nebojsa for which I had signed-up. It was interesting. Lots to hear but not much to see. Understandable because of hygiene reasons.

At 5 pm we could listen to (and ask questions). A young lady had come for the onboard discussion "Dutch Royals". It was quite interesting. Quite different from the British Royals of which we have some personal memories.

After Port Talk and dinner was the entertainment "Missed the Boat Party" A true King's Day experience with crew and program directors. Yes, this was when we were supposed to dress up in orange.

I must say, I got a lot of compliments about my "fascinator".

It was at the end a bit like a carneval's party. We had not walked that much today but the dancing did it!

Stepcount: 10,214    Yeah!
