Thursday
William had written a letter to his Mom (I already reported) and put it into the mailbox with a kiss.
Then we did a not-so-fun thing in the morning ... we went shopping in the hope to find some school clothes. Can you believe it? Most were already gone. But we found a little. After that "endurance" (for William) we went to his favorite restaurant: the Olive Garden. Yes, we have one too.
Can't remember what we did in the afternoon. Most likely we went to our CR pool. Children's time is from 1 to 4:30 pm. He was sorry that he didn't have the goggles he had tried out from Caleb.
After 5 pm I went to Sarah's house. Robin had left with Caleb for the VBS and I was company with Sarah and the twins. She had tried earlier to go for a walk with them but it rumbled and then rained. So, we tried again and had just a little walk.
We put the twins to bed and she had to go to work. James, I and William all slept there because Sarah had to go to work at 8:30 pm and Wade had to go out of town for one night. It doesn't happen often but is never at a convenient time for them.
Friday
We had a good night but were woken by Colin and Owen very early. Gosh, they are early risers. They were very antsy. Because it gets so hot in the day we thought it would be a good idea to go for a walk early. It was lovely so early ... only 7 am. All four had either a bike or a scooter and they had fun.
And there are always new things to see. Even the sprinkler is interesting.
Or a rabbit who sat there for ever and then made one hop.
Normally the nanny comes at 7 am but we told Robin that it was not necessary since we were there anyway and agreed on 8:30 am.
Robin had invited William to go with her and the cousins to a pool with another friend. He was so happy and really enjoyed it. And we were grateful to her. She even texted us these photos. Do you see William on top of the slide? And Caleb just arriving at the bottom? It only took William a little getting used to the idea and now he tried it and loved it.
Robin, being in charge of the VBS, took both boys with her.
All we had to do is pick them up. It had given us the opportunity to take care of a few things which needed doing but would have had to wait until week after next.
I picked up William and James brought Caleb home. No question about it. William thought it was another great day.
Saturday
James and I were committed to help this day to make 100 lunch bags for homeless people. We were 6 adults and William. If you have a good system it doesn't take very long at all.
At lunch time Wade brought Caleb to our house. We had tickets for the Children's Theater at Willow Lawn to see "Polkadots, the cool kids musical" at 2 pm. It was very appropriate for them and very nice.
Afterwards we had a few shopping errands to do right next door. Ink from Staples and some food items from Kroger. When we walked into Kroger we saw that they had scanners for "scan and go". The boys were fascinated and had to take turns to do it. We needed to make one more item to make it equal and fair so ice cream it was for the way home.
When we brought Caleb back home we were also invited to dinner again. The children had gone into the basement to play for a while and Stella was left behind. I felt so sorry for her trying to look through the cat door in the basement door. It looks weirdly headless.
Sarah fixed apple pork burgers. A very nice recipe. Thank you!!!
Sunday
Church at 10 am. William knows our church of course. Wade came with the boys too. William and Caleb were asked whether they wanted to ring the bell before service. Thank you, Mr. Rick. He didn't have to ask twice.
After church we all went to Wendy's for lunch. I had teller duty but James and I had come with two cars and because they stayed for a reception in the Parish hall for a while I wasn't too late to join them.
We parted afterwards and I can't remember what the three of us did in the afternoon. But after dinner we went for a walk in the neighborhood because the air was lovely.
James discovered the big frog which had lived on this corner already for several years (he or his descendants?). Can you see him?
And that is it in a nutshell. I can't believe a week has already passed. William has lots of books to read, including two he had picked up one day when we went with him and Caleb to the library. He loves reading. He gets pretty much a letter from Helen every day and he loves FaceTime with both of his parents. Busy busy busy.
