Day 2 - embarking

Saturday January 4

We all had a good night in the hotel. Here are two photos out of our window. I wished I could put those on one line because that is what I saw ... looking a little to the right or left.

Well rested we had the complimentary buffet breakfast in the lobby. We packed up again, vacated the rooms and met in the lobby where we waited for the time to pass until it was time to take the shuttle to the port. James and I used the time to surprise David.

David likes to smoke a pipe once in a while. Whenever he visits the USA he looks for tobacco. Whenever we visit in England we like to bring a little gift. Since we have no knowledge about tobacco it is quite difficult to pick it out. Every time we found a source it wasn't available any longer the next time. Does he look surprised?

James and I had tried again on December 30 and were lucky. We spent the afternoon criss-crossing the town. An adventure. We chose samplings from these three.

The port was not far and the shuttle bus driver knew the procedures. At noon we were in line.

Embarkation was very easy. Cruise lines are like oiled machines. Our suitcases were taken care of and we were told we could go and have lunch.

We explored our rooms and balconies. Our rooms were very close but on opposite sides of the ship.

Nice view.

Our rooms were in the front part of the ship on deck 6.

Of course the ship can't sail before the emergency drill was done. Everybody cooperated and finally...

... we were on the way. Leaving Port Everglades.

We were busy unpacking and getting comfortable in the rooms, exploring the ship, enjoying our first dinner on board and talking. When it was finally time to go to bed we found our first "towel art" in our rooms. This was ours.
