William's vacation, Day 11 & 12

Thursday

First thing on the agenda (after breakfast) is the beach. Ups, as soon as we are down these steps we realize we forgot William's life vest. Papa volunteered to go back to the house.

William and I wait.

There he is!

After the beach a swim in the pool. William makes good progress with his swimming. He listens to Papa.
VIDEO!     (0:18)

It was lovely. Hardly any mosquitoes. Even I go in for a while. Papa took care of the proof.

Here is the screened porch in this picture. What a blessing that place is. My favorite.

As soon as we were back from Fort Macon we realized that William's hat was missing. There is a big store just around the corner here with all sorts of beach things. The three of us walk over there to find a new hat and are successful. Papa also found some footwear since his crocs gave him a sore spot. On the way back I noticed a rock garden with these lovely flowers. Wonder what they are?

Some relaxing time in my favorite place. Papa and I play cards.
William reads but then takes this VIDEO!     (0:04) with my camera. Obviously he had fun.

For dinner William "hinted" that he would like pizza again like two days earlier. No problem. It's just a little walk for Papa. He ordered online but they were very busy. Even though with preordering there was a long line. Too long. But Papa came back with a strange/funny story:
The first lady in the line had a problem. She turned around and asked whether anybody wanted a pepperoni pizza. Somebody raised the hand and got it. Then she said she had 5 more. Papa raised his hand, got it and was told just to pay it forward.

Here he comes home with the pizza (free, but I didn't know it yet).

Dinner conversation: paying it forward ... and wondering what had happened to the lady.

For two days we were having trouble with the internet. Writing the blogs was a pain. But we were lucky that it worked now. We had a ZOOM meeting with our church friends at 5:30pm.

William had a ZOOM meeting at 7:30pm with the Sunday school friends from his church.

A craft idea on the refrigerator here. Magnets. Note to Omi: the boys might have fun making little gifts.

Friday

Technically we could spend another night but had to be out of the house at 10 am ... like everybody else. When we arrived ... at the same time as everybody else ... we had to sneak along in a long line of cars. We really wanted to avoid that going home.

We still made the most of the day. After breakfast we went to the ocean. It was very nice and ... surprise, surprise ... even I went in and enjoyed it. There were not that many people where we were (yet) but we could see to both sides it was getting crowded especially where there was a large apartment building.

After the ocean we rinsed off the sand and went straight into the pool. That was very nice again too. And I went in also. You might have guessed it that I am not much of a water person. But seeing William getting better and better is a lot of fun.

After lunch we packed and got organized. Ha-ha, James thought that on arrival he had seen this large pewter thing (lobster or octopus) which he couldn't stand and hid in a drawer. Or so he thought. When he could not find it he questioned whether he had dreamed it. He had searched for it everywhere. I found it in seconds and it was a seahorse.

Thanks to leaving a little earlier we had a smooth drive of 4 hours. We arrived home at 5 pm and were happy to see that everything was ok. That rhododendron bush is just gorgeous this year. What a little bit of fertilizer can do.

Now we have three days left with William and are trying to plan what to do. We hope the big surprise tomorrow will be a success.
