William's vacation, Day 7

Sunday

Yes, the children wake up early. At 8 am we had already walked to the beach. The weather could not have been more perfect. It was a glorious morning. We walked all the way from our public beach access to the pier. Of course we had to stop here and there, ha-ha.

Owen has to pick up everything, alive or dead. You have to watch him.

The Pier! Sarah wants a family photo. Papa is getting ready.

It is an impressive structure.

And back to the beach access. Less photos, but still ...

Lots of steps up, lots of steps down. Then just one block in the neighborhood.

First thing, always rinsing off the sand in the back of the house.

It was our busiest day. Now breakfast!

Then: the pool! The pool is very nice. Saltwater, less chemicals. But as we found out yesterday: so many mosquitoes. We thought they might not be there around noon but ...

And then back to the beach for some "real" beach time.

The adults and older kids are happy to "be hosed off". The twins want to do it themselves.

Lunch on the screened porch on spread out towels. Perfect. Sarah makes very good plates full of lots of different things.

And then time for a rest. The twins have to have their nap. Sarah and I played the sequence game with William and Caleb. We had to play it twice because we were in teams. First time William and I won. Then Caleb and I won. Sarah told boys she was a good example of a good loser. Of course it is a game of luck of the cards. The boys were happy.

More pool time. Sarah took some really great videos:

And I did too:

For dinner Wade grilled hotdogs and hamburgers on the (provided) gas grill. For dinner all 8 of us sit always around the glass dining room table.

And then, of course, another walk to and on the beach. We just leave our shoes at the bottom of the steps.

Everybody admired the moon. I really like this photo. It was not so easy to take.

After the kids were in bed, we four adults played Five Crowns. It was a miracle that our laughter didn't wake at least one of the kids. Sarah won with only 42 and Christa lost with the record 212.

It was a wonderful day for everybody.
