Talk about weather ... and more

I am very busy somehow but not have much to report. We are happy with what I call the "five minute jobs". Things which just need to be done, seem trivial but take so much longer than the 5 minutes. We are trying to organize our upcoming trip which is more than our usually "book it" and that's it (you will see in due course if you like to read my blogs). I volunteered for a few special things at the church. Again we don't have a secretary and it is our 60th year anniversary of the church founding. And also, Tax deadline is shortly after we are back from the trip so needs to be organized before we leave.

But ... what is there to report? Yo-yo weather! Thursday February 2 we woke up to this.

Recently we had a great idea to put a birdfeeder up on the railing of the front porch. Now we enjoy it very much when we have breakfast and/or lunch at the kitchen table. The birds love it.

The camellias look pretty under the snow.

I wished though this snow had not happened. It did stun the rest of the buds. I found the below cartoon and thought it is so fitting.

And just a few days earlier I had signed up for a glass etching class at our community pavilion. Not that I need another hobby. Oh no. But I thought it might be a very nice activity for our church ladies.
I was right. It was a lot of fun and very easy. The red in the first photo is just the stencil.

We had been offered a big selection of different stencils.

Ha-ha, soon we had spring weather again and we could do our walks in the neighborhood again. On one of those we saw a car with this lisence plate. James won the jackpot. He guessed "take it easy" and I think he is right.  I like to dicypher plates like this but he immidiately knew what it meant. Got it?

Sunday (2/12) was a day for our(matinee) opera season tickets. As always we went early enough to attend the lecture about it. "Fellow Travelers" is a very new opera (2016) but every opera was once a new one which nobody in the audience had heard before. The theme (homosexuals in the 1950s McCarthy area in DC) seems still relevant today. It didn't bother us. But we were very uncomfortable how the 2 love scenes in the first act were presented (rather graphic rather than just implied) and we had enough and left in the intermission, which we had only done once in all these years. What a shame.

After a brief stop at home to change etc, we headed off to church again. The Super Bowl Party started at 6pm with a meal provided.

James and I are not really football fans. I could not have answered if you asked me who played. But this game was actually very interesting and we enjoyed it.

Since Monday we have to think about what we have to do to be ready for our upcoming trip. It was time to do the electronic check-in. We had to take the next two pictures to upload for our boarding passes. It took us a while to have the photos just right, ha-ha.

Needless to say that we are quite excited. But I still have to work to get the next monthly church newsletter ready. And what clothes are we taking? Tropical weather in the beginning which then gets colder at the end. Oh well....
