By now we know how best to tacle the breakfast. Early enough is the key. Happy packed, room in order, we put our lagguage in the parked car. One more visit to one of the many museums. Walking towards the National Mall we pass the National Museum of the American Indian. It is an impressive and nice looking building.
Interesting totem poles.
William wanted to go to the National Gallery of Art. All three of us were going our own pace. It was fun to see how much William enjoyed it too.
I am of course much slower than the others. I love reading the posted signs.
I can't make up my mind how much (or not) I like this painting. But I do like that we do not see the apostles' faces. I do not like faces on people where we really don't know how they looked. The blond Madonnas with the white blond Jesus baby are so unreal. Sometimes it bothers me.
And this I found really interesting.
Yes, there is THE Thinker which is probably the most famous.
Pictures from William!
This Thinker (which I have already mentioned) was just around the corner in the sculpture garden so we decided to take a quick "real" look.
We had planned to stop at the Albert Einstein Memorial, another Thinker William's father Ben had mentioned. It was too far from our hotel to walk but on our way out of town. It was right next to the road but unfortunately there was no parking. Some construction on the street around the corner seem to be going on and for some reason there was a long line of taxis. We let William out of the car to look but the signs even said "no stopping". So this is not a photo from one of us but from the internet. May be next time we have more luck.
The rattling of the little glassbits in that back door drive me a bit crazy. Obviously they didn't vacuum it out. Something else to take care off later. But the drive on I-95 was not as bad as it sometimes is.
We stop in Woodbridge because that is our closest IKEA. I recently broke a dish which needed replacing. And it is a good place for our late lunch. Swedish meatballs!
We arrive home in good time and there are more activities to report about this day. But that in the next blog.
The consensus though is that we had a good time and when William comes next year we need to go again. We should do some planning though, get tickets in advance etc etc. May be even a visit into the White House or the Capital?

Something I have missed yesterday. A selfie from William. He looks so happy in it that of course it needs to be included:
