Asia trip Day 17 - at sea

Tuesday March 14

We had a very leisurely morning sitting in the Horizon lounge on deck 10. James is reading and I am writing. And we both look out and watch the birds which are sailing while swingen to the left and to the right without much flapping their wings. Sometimes they dive down to catch one of those little flying fish. We asked this trip's speaker, the naturalist, and he told us that they were "boobies".

At that time he also told us that the bird which I had photographed in Taipei (Day 14) had been a black-crowned night-heron. 

It really was very relaxing and enjoyable.

Lunch. You know you can always find food on a cruise ship.

Slowly we started seeing bits of land. Obviously small vulcano islands.

At 2 pm we went to the lecture of the speaker Dr. Orenstein. This time it was "Beneath Japan's Seas" marine life in Japanese waters from bizarre sharks to edible jellyfish.

We really enjoy those lectures. Lots of interesting information in a way we can understand. And  they don't take so long that you are on information overload. We got back to the room to play our card game. Helen will be very pleased that we are drinking our daily immune system booster.

And since we are at sea, another lecture at 5:30 pm. This time the talk is about "Natural Monuments" wildlife and wild places in Japan: monuments, animals and plants. 

Sun is going down and more islands to see. The sun down is not as spectacular as I had hoped for.

Already time for dinner? This time it was in the Grand Diningroom again. Decision making time again.

And how can we not get desserts?

We are in time to have a good place to enjoy the Primavera String Quartet which plays for half an hour at this time of the evening.

The main evening entertainment at 9:30 pm was a surprise. The Harmonicist Aiden Soon was incredible and fun to see and hear. But of course they don't like us to take photos or videos.

Afterwards as always happy hour in the Horizon with that incredible Nautica Showband. We even danced.

Yup, another great day. It doesn't have to be super spectacular every day. We are happy.
