Day 15 of William's visit - part 1

Saturday  July 1 -  Hard to believe that a half of this year is already over. One really needs to enjoy every day to the fullest because time is going so fast.

And yes, we are doing exactly that. William is visiting and so that the 4 cousins have maximum time with each other we have rented the cabin for 3 nights. Today is the first full day.

Everybody loves going for hikes. Sarah found one that sounded just right. Soon after breakfast we are on our way.

There were many large boulders left and right next to the path and the boys of course could not resist.

Some of the photos in this blog are from me and some from Sarah or Papa. Actually, in all of these blogs.

Ha-ha, Christa of course can not resist taking photos of the wildflowers too. One of these days I will break down to also get an identifier on my phone.

My problem with hiking is always going up and I do the huffing and puffing. Everybody else is more like a mountain goat, especially the boys. They probably walked double the miles doing all those forths and backs and circles around us.

But here we are at THE TOP!

There was another couple there and Sarah took their photo and they ours.

Sarah's boys had to do a little more climbing.

Getting ready to go down again. And yes, we had plenty of water with us and took care of our hydration.

The boys also kept finding walking sticks.

I enjoyed that everybody also paid attention to surroundings. The boys commented on these strange trees.

And there we are back at the beginning. Across the street is the parked car.

And that was our hike on the Hightop Peak Trail in the Shenandoah National Park.
Length: 3.20 miles
Elevation gain: 912 feet
We started about 9:50 am and finished 12:10 pm.

We went back to the cabin and had lunch. While we got ready Papa complained that the hike didn't even make "the shoe drop" on his fitbit.

Between us we had lots of photos and I tried to keep it to a minimum here in the blog. Believe me, that is difficult. And so that the blog does not get too long there has to be a part two today. Hope you enjoy our adventures as much as we do. You know we would love a comment!
