More Day 16 of William's visit and Day 17

Sunday afternoon -  We had to take the two cars to Luray and from there Wade left to go back home. He had to work next day. The rest of us went back to the cabin.

The boys could not wait to get to the river again. They had so much fun.

Of course an adult was always there.

We adults watched some ducks, one of them a white one with a tuff on her head (crested duck) and two brown ones. They came on the river all the way from the right and decided to come on land on the left of the tree. When the twins got too excited they were reluctant.

When we retreated they got braver again and waddled all the way up to the cabin.

They must have known that there was freshly seeded young long grass there to find. By that time the twins were already in the hot-tub.

An hour later the boys were in the river again.

By 8 pm the kayaks were put under the deck again and things put into their proper places. One more walk down to the river.

Yes, the harmless water snake they had seen earlier (and chased away) was back again. Sarah photos.

Monday July 3 - Time to leave the cabin. Check out 10 am. I find packing up to go home never that difficult. One just has to find what one brought. Sarah had planned an easy breakfast.

We were on the road in good time. Our drive home lead us through Gordonsville Virginia. Sarah had been before and had stopped before at BBQ Exchange for some take-out to bring home. We thought that was a good thing to do again especially since I looked at the menu and they had other things besides pork.

We were too early though. They open at 11 am. 20 minutes to walk about. A cute little town.

Across the street at the information center was a little museum the boys enjoyed. And right next door was City Hall were the boys could go to the restroom.

Sarah parked at the BBQ exchange but there were still 5 minutes. When I opened the door by mistake the door was locked immidiately from the inside and we were "punished" for having to wait another few minutes. Our big take-out order might have made up for it. We enjoyed it when we got to Sarah and Wade's house. Wade came soon too. Even the children dug into all the food. The beef brisket was quite spicy but delicious if you like spicy which James and I do. And the smoked salmon was very nice too.

We had left James' car at their house at the start of this trip and it was time to go home. The twins had had the sleepover with William and us already and time seem to be running out for Caleb to get his turn. So, he came with us.

I was interested to find whether our "concret project" worked. Yes, all solar lamps are fine.

William and Caleb had a good time together. They decided that they wanted to play against James and me as a team. William taught Caleb. It was fun to watch them.

Caleb always travels with his favorite blanket but it had a problem. Omi please .....

After dinner dessert: Mango over vanilla ice cream.

Tuesday 4th of July - We let William sleep in but Caleb is an early riser. I brought him back home because they had their neighborhood bike parade like every year at 9 am.

Later Sarah called whether William would like to go swimming with them to ACAC. Oh yes, he would! So I brought him over. Sarah sent these two photos. They all had a great time.

For the evening James and I were invited to dinner too. The cousins played games in the basement and ball outside.

And then William had to say good-bye to his cousins because his visit is coming to an end. Bitter sweet. They had such a good time together.

Report: The lights are spaced and work nicely.

Happy Independence Day!

Gordonsville is really charming at Christmas time with all the lights. Nice little drive - not too far.
