I woke up at 4:30 am to go to the bathroom like us older people sometime have to and look at this beautiful sunrise. I had to admire it for a while and then fell asleep again.
3 hours later we could watch the ship dock at the harbor.
Breakfast at the Lido deck. Even sat outside. The cold weather is gone. The day looks promising.
At 10 am we left the ship to explore the town. Just outside is the mailbox. Finally the postcards are off to William and Caleb.
We were given maps in the port and followed it to the park. Nature seems to be a month behind us here. Flowering trees, azaleas and rhododendrons in full bloom. Very nice.
On the other side of the park we continue to the Citadel, a National Historic Site.
There was a lot to see and a lot of info but I will not get into too much detail. We did have a lady tour guide though.

On top of the wall there was a lovely view.
At noon every day they hold a canon shot ceremony. Everybody seemed to be excited about it.
Timing is everything. Our guide got us to the noon canon shot place just a few minutes before.

There was a lot of talk about HOW LOUD the shot will sound. I was really worried because I can't cover my ears and take photos. But ... it was more like a sneeze. Thank goodness.
When we left the Citadel I had to take a photo of the guard at the entrance (exit). A thistle! After all, this was reenacting a Highland Regiment.
After that we decided to move on and continue walking the suggested loop on the maps. St. Paul’s Anglican Church is another historic site.

Kate pointed this one out to me. I liked it.
It was not far to the water front. A lot of people were about now. I loved this restaurant sign advertising Delishes Fishes Dishes!
We finally saw the brewery which we had seen in the beginning of our walk but they only offered some weird sampling. By now it was probably 1:30 or so and we were a tad hungry. Probably mainly thirsty really. With the brewery next door this pizza place was pretty good. We all shared one. But the refreshing beer was needed most.
And then at 4 pm the ship left the harbor, so very much on time.
Smooth sailing. James got us tea and cookies which we enjoyed in the sun on the balcony. Oh, it feels good. After this there is not much to see but sea. Very calming. I think I managed to have a nap.
At 7 pm we knock on Kate and Davis’s door, have a predinner drink and then find our dinner table. It’s supposed to be a gala evening so we dressed a little better. James and I have both the jumbo shrimp cocktail and then the soup. We did not finish our soups. It was not worth it because it had no taste at all.
On the other hand my “surf and turf” was excellent.
Afterwards we were told that there was a surprise for us outside in the bar. Lots of people were mingling and waiters walking around offering different chocolate treats. Just coming from dinner including dessert, this was not too tempting but some guests seemed to stuff themselves.
At 10 am we had the Maasdam singers and dancers performance in the showroom and it was excellent. James and I were very sure that we had seen the same performance at the previous cruse but we all really enjoyed it.
And guess who was waiting in our stateroom?
I had just seen this and took the photo in the library on the way to the room.
Tonight we gain an hour again.

Couldn't post again on yesterday so here it is: I am always bothered by people saying “high tea” when they mean “afternoon tea”. Being raised by an Englishman makes me very particular. And I’m a clotted cream, then jam girl.
